In a nutshell
CHIPS works for peace and reconciliation in areas of conflict and tension around the world. Our emphasis is on grassroots approaches since we recognise that while political solutions are important, without the engagement of individuals and communities, real and lasting peace may be impossible to realise.
CHIPS is a relational organisation which tailors its approach to particular situations to inspire and motivate local people to build peace in their communities. CHIPS supports teams of Christians to undertake practical projects which foster positive interaction, increase trust and reduce enmity between opposing groups or individuals.
CHIPS is inspired by the person and teaching of Jesus who taught and embodied a way of peace and called followers to do likewise. We see peacemaking as a modern form of ‘mission’ which, rooted in a spirituality of love, can help to build God’s Kingdom in our damaged, fractured and disconnected 21st century world. CHIPS is a member of the Coventry Cathedral Community of the Cross of Nails.
